Amazing time at the school

Yesterday we took a hike across the island to visit the school and to do a beach clean up. The teacher, Fransisco, greeted us when we got there. He told us about the school, about the students, and had us introduce ourselves. Even Kona the dog made an appearance, she was so happy to see all the kids!

We were paired up with a few kids each to do the beach cleanup- my group was fantastic and they worked so hard to pick up as much trash as possible. Along the way, they would show me all sorts of interesting animals and rocks and different nuts from trees and told me all about them.

When we were finished picking up the trash, we put all of the bags (and there were a lot) into an enclosed area to be disposed of later. Then we played games with the kids. I had a ridiculous amount of fun running around with them and speaking to them in Spanish and laughing with them.

They even brought out instruments and started playing, and everyone was dancing. It was wonderful.
I was so sad to leave, and I hope I can return before we leave. We got picked up on a boat to go back to Turtle Bay. It was all grey and cloudy and almost cool outside for once, so the boat ride was fantastic. This was definitely one of my favorite days.
