First Adventures

The first thing I got to do on the island before snorkeling was climbing. A small group of people that included me as well as Andre, Dara, Jaci, and Natali climbed the rocks to the point of the island that's left of the dock. The most difficult part was figuring out how to get down from one of the ledges. There wasn't that much room for your feet or very many hand holds and the drop was a little bit over five feet onto some more rocks. It was easier to go down facing the rock but I accidentally did it the hard way. After that most of the rocks were easy to climb and when we got to the point the view was amazing. Definitely worth the trip.

I don't really want to go on a huge spiel about snorkeling since I kept staying out longer so I'll just put highlights of what I saw or mishaps. Lesson 1: do not show someone how to clear your mask when you forget you're in salt water. It really burns. That's the only actual lesson. After that I saw a ton of parrot fish, and a starfish and there were sea urchins everywhere!!! I think I saw a marbled eel in one of the coral heads but I am not very great at determining specific species. Let me tell ya though I could figure out that on today's trip I saw a spotted eel. I just really think that the house reef is really awesome and there were so many different fish and coral out there. The coolest fish I saw was definitely the trumpet fish and I was so happy to see a hawkbill sea turtle.

Honestly I wish I could just mess around with Christmas tree worms all day but I committed to urchins and need to stop acting like a 3 year old. Thank you for reading the nonsensical ramblings.
